Braided Towel Rug

Trust me on this i have looked.
Braided towel rug. It actually turned out pretty nice. A braided rug from towels is a great way to create your own area rugs on the cheap. A sewing machine or some needle and thread will be needed to make a braided rug from towels. In order to make the woven rug shown in the top picture look up four strand braided rag rugs i make them using a four strand braid where you loup the fourth strand into the previous row.
Why not make a braided beach towel rug that could be used in the bathroom. There are lots of diy posts about rag rugs out there but most of them just left me confused. The video photos help tremendously and the directions are the most concise i found. The first step is cutting your beach towel up into strips.
Starting in the center of the rug sew the braids to each other so the rug doesn t uncoil. Fold the towels in half and start cutting one inch strips. I used two inch strips and ended up with four. The only other thing that is important to know is thinking of a really awesome design. Once you have a braid that s long enough braid coil the strips into an oval shape on a flat surface. Line up 3 strips.
Cut off the border of the towels if necessary. Fortunately this braided rag rug tutorial by megan nielsen is excellent and most likely the best you re going to find. This is crucial as the thread is used to sew the braids of the area rug together. Thank you so much for watching.
The beach towel i purchased measured 30 inches by 60 inches and the final rug was about 20 inches round. Take a strip in each color and sew the three ends together.
